A vineyard in Victoria, Australia needed to expand an existing solar pumping system into a broader site-wide energy solution.
The property already had a ground-mounted solar array used to power a long-distance irrigation pump drawing water from the Yarra River. While the system was effective for pumping, it was isolated from the rest of the site and could not support the vineyard’s wider operational and residential energy needs.
The new owners wanted to make better use of the existing solar infrastructure while adding reliable three-phase power for irrigation, agricultural operations, and property loads.
The site required more than a standard solar upgrade. The system needed to support multiple energy sources and load types while maintaining reliable operation for a working vineyard.
Key challenges included:
Rather than replacing the existing infrastructure, the project team needed to build on it.
Repurpose an existing solar pumping system into a reliable, site-wide energy system for residential and vineyard operations.
Deacam Engineering led the installation and integration, working with DPA, Complete Power Partners, Victron Energy, and Discover Energy Systems to deliver a pre-engineered, integrated energy storage system.
The system uses 20 Discover AES RACKMOUNT lithium batteries housed within an integrated cabinet alongside inverter and control equipment, helping reduce on-site complexity and support predictable commissioning.
The system was designed to:
Three-phase power, solar self-consumption, backup power, irrigation support, and agricultural energy management.
The completed system transformed the vineyard’s existing solar infrastructure into a flexible, site-wide energy platform.
The property now has reliable three-phase power supporting residential loads, irrigation, agricultural operations, and future expansion. The integrated cabinet design helped reduce installation complexity, while closed-loop battery communication supported predictable system behaviour during commissioning and daily operation.
With the new system in place, the property can use its solar generation more effectively across the whole site while reducing uncertainty around power availability, system operation, and future growth.
Existing solar repurposed for broader site use
The project expanded the value of an existing solar pumping array instead of replacing it.
Multi-use agricultural energy system
One system now supports irrigation, agricultural operations, residential loads, and backup requirements.
Pre-engineered cabinet integration
Factory-built cabinetry and validated system design helped reduce on-site risk and simplify commissioning.
Expandable battery capacity
The system was designed with future flexibility, allowing battery storage to expand as property needs evolve.

Deacam Engineering led the installation and integration for the project. Having previously designed and installed the original pumping system, Deacam brought long-term site knowledge and remained the ongoing service partner for the vineyard.
DPA supported system architecture and component selection, helping coordinate the integration of Discover battery technology, Victron inverter control, and the pre-engineered cabinet solution.
Complete Power Partners manufactured the integrated cabinet solution used to house the battery and inverter equipment.
Victron Energy provided the inverter platform used for system control, load management, and operational logic.
